We cordially invite young leaders of their local communities interested in issues of civil society, democratic and liberal values to participate in the School of Young Leaders – a two-week program of seminars, meetings and study visits to various public institutions and memorials in Poland.

The School of Leaders is affiliated with the Euro-Atlantic Forum on Security and Democracy: Our Freedom and Yours, which will take place on September 10-11, 2023 in Krakow, Poland. The School of Leaders will take place after the Euro-Atlantic Forum, September 12-25, 2023. The event will include four study visits: to Auschwitz-Birkenau in Oświęcim, the European Ombudsman’s office in Warsaw, EU Frontex headquarters and the Solidarity Museum in Gdansk. At each of these sites, participants will take part in guided tours and discussions.

The school is aimed at young leaders of their local communities, interested in issues of civil society, democratic and liberal values. The language of instruction will be English.

The school’s program, as well as related excursions, is designed to deepen reflection and interpersonal skills among those in the Europe, Eurasia and Middle East region involved in civic activities and increase their sensitivity to the intersection of history, democracy, civic movements and authoritarian tendencies. Among the elements for checking its results will be two questionnaires – one will be sent to participants after their application is selected, and the other will be sent after the school-related activities are completed. Both will take the form of a self-assessment questionnaire, in which participants will indicate on a scale their social and leadership competencies, as well as their opinions and views related to the importance of democracy and liberal values and reflection on history.
